Re MCB/RCBO lockoffs.

Brady - available from Reecesafety and others. Very good brand, black plunger which you press in and it pulls the two side-pins inwards so you can insert them in a fiddly fashion into the side holes on most domestic circuit breakers. Problem is they are quite expensive once you factor in postage (about =A335 for 3 or =A326 for 2). You can sometimes get them on Ebay for about =A33.50-4.50 delivered if lucky.

Generic - Ebay 110570131540. These work by a similar method, and you get 3 for =A38 delivered.

ABB - Farnell 7176910, =A31.93. Basically a yellow tag which slides up & down the pins. Quite cheap, about =A32, and work fine.

Instead of a padlock buy the red zip-tie seals on Ebay, they are one- use but lock securely and visibly - although not as strong as a big cable tie.

Usage problem. If you need to lockoff two MCB/RCBO side-by-side such as dodgy lighting you can run into a problem because the width of the apparatus (had to get that in somewhere) is wider than 1-module width. On Brady you can get round this problem by tilting one up and one down, they want to centre but it is usable.

I suspect the ABB will align side-by-side, long time since I used them, the yellow type on that Ebay advert may or may not - you would have to email the seller, price is very good though for occasional D-I- Y usage.

The nicest solution is a big MEM switchfuse, with Chubb Battleship padlock on the handle and carefully positioned grenade :-)

To those up a ladder, wear a proper safety helmet with strap, no idea if any put proper impact foam in them (the correct impact foam from Rogers Corporation can mean a C4 detonation can leave someone walking with burst ear drums vs clinical vegetative state). Proper mountaineering harness & rope if possible and know how to absail, with M16 scaffold pins correctly set into the wall ideally. If working over windows, you can pickup 2-3mm corrugated plastic dirt cheap from Jewsons etc which can be taped over the window to prevent a boot print or shards of glass from penetrating it.

USA has tried various "cryogenics" for head injuries, indeed, the bleed is extremely damaging as one actress found out to her cost recently over a simple skiing fall (Richardson?). It is like meningitis, too late really can be too late.

Many States have "Good Samaritan" legislation which protects those who help in an emergency from being sued.

And don't forget that most frivolous cases are brought against those with deep pockets - usually insurance companies.
