HVAC Office Software:

Someone recently was looking for Office Software. I found an add in todays "Air Conditioning Today" paper out of New Braunsfels, Texas.

The add advertises a free, never to be expired software. You are not required to buy anything. But you may want to pay for upgrades in the future. For particulars go to:

I don't know anything about this software and don't know where these folks are located and no! I don't have a dog in this fight. Just hope its helpful to those in need of this stuff. I would guess that it is ready for instant download and more then likely you get on their spam list. The name of the Program is *HVAC Office 9.0 Superlite* and apparently you also get 1 year of free support/training.

I read this and shake my head... THe regulars in here know what it takes to run a business. Someone comes in and asks for advice and told (rightly or wrongly) to leave. Now the same business people want free software! Does anyone here see the contradiction besides me? In fact, a regular here is a software developer. How long would he survive if he gave his product away free? I am not talking public domain here.

There is a hook in everything. Even Paul would appreciate a buck or two to his favorite pet charity for his software. I personally have tried demo's of lots of wares. I buy the stuff I like. Hell, I even bought some from Paul once. The add for this was in our own News bulletins, thus it was aimed at our industry. Is this any different then a free lunch to suck us in..to listen to some sales pitch? Believe me.. If you glom onto this software, there will be a hook somewhere. You pay one way or another. Nothing Ventured, Nothing gained. GM stock is down to $5 from $40 a share. You think in a week or two it might be free? ;-p

Tekkie, It was me asking for business software. I was not asking for free software. I was asking what the hvac regulars might be using as I dont like what I have and I dont want a $5000 or $10,000 software CD. I appreciate what Don found but as you read through it you will find that it will only entice you. It wont serve what you need. Look at the price page. Its way into the $$ thousands for this full blown software. The free version (which wont serve a true company's needs) even adds $15 bucks just to ship it. Im looking for something more affordable for the smaller hvac company. You wont need to shake your head for software companies on account of an ad like this one. Thanks, Bubba
