Faculty Position - Architectural Engineering - Drexel University

Full-Time Tenure Track Faculty Position at Drexel University The Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering invites applications for a tenure track position in the area of Building Energy Systems with emphasis in sustainable building designs and energy management. The successful candidate should possess research expertise in building mechanical and control systems, building information modeling and management, building sensor networks, alternative energy management, or smart sustainable building materials. The applicant must hold a doctoral degree in Engineering or a related discipline. A professional engineering license is desirable but not required. The position is offered at the Assistant Professor level and is expected to begin in September 2009. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a strong externally funded research program, advise and mentor graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, and participate in the continued growth of the Architectural Engineering graduate program. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to Drexel=92s multidisciplinary =93Engineering Cities=94 researc= h initiative, which focuses on improving urban infrastructure engineering and policy to achieve environmentally sustainable, resilient and humane urban habitats. Drexel University is located in the University City section of Philadelphia, a vibrant, historic metropolis with many cultural attractions. The University is the largest private engineering collage in the nation and is widely recognized for its focus on co- operative education and technology. Drexel University is a top-tier research institution ranked in the top 100 among all PhD granting universities according to US News & World Report (2009). The current research focuses of our Architectural Engineering faculty are in energy and building systems, particularly in building mechanical and control systems, energy efficiency in buildings, renewable energy systems, building indoor environmental areas, and thermal analysis. In addition, the program has a close working relationship with the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Mechanics.
