English Holly Maturity

Hi, I am Roger from Switzerland, zone 7a. I have an English Holly grown from a seed. It is now 10 years old, 5 feet high and hasn't bloomed yet. Thus I cannot say whether it is male or female Has somebody an idea at which age English Holly can bloom for the first time? Any information would be great! Roger

Hi Roger -- The flowers appear in the spring and they are real tiny. If you have only one plant you will never get berries. You need both male and female plants for cross pollination. Your plant is indeed old enough to be flowering. You just have not noticed because the white flowers are so small. HTH
