zero clearance insert finish

made a zero clearance insert of some birch type ply

what is a good long lasting finish that will be slippery

thought of applying some poly but not sure how well that wears

tung oil was another thought

the height is right so want to avoid anything thick

It's not a fine piece of furniture. Just apply some paste wax and polish dry.

Or spray the insert along with the TS top with TopKote.

Or make another out of melamine. ;-)

It's not rocket surgery. It doesn't have to be slippery. I've had the same MDF and raw plywood inserts for years and haven't had the slightest concern about how slick they are. Don't over think it, just make $h!t.

haha yeah i ended up using some tung oil as the ply was very dry and had some splinter potential

have let it set but need to see how the oil soaked in
