office was vandalized after the health care bill was passed, and a man dropped a handgun at a similar constituent meeting and was removed by police. I wonder if those on the right who have been especially inflammatory and depicted the Dems as de facto traitors out to destroy America will dial back their rhetoric, or will they continue to pour fuel on the flames?

Yep, too many Americans with guns, and a society that settles arguments with weapons, a society that thinks social security, health care for all irrespective of wallet size, care for the underprivileged, impoverished, aged etc is an anathema - and large groups spread totally vile misinformation to ensure that they get all that they want.

With regards to violence - you even have a politician 'Sarah Palin' shouting for the blood and death of non-American citizens who have had the temerity to expose what America says about its allies - what does that say about America and its people?

What chance has America have of peace with a population and government like that?

And Americans think that the rest of the world is 'nuts'........

My sympathies to those injured and to the relatives of the slain child.

I will say no more on the subject.

I took about 3 hours from the event happening until some person starts blaming the conservative right. I won my bet.

You're as bad as that idiot living in the White House, eager to blame those who were not at fault.

300 million+ people in the US. 5 of them dead at the hand of a perp we know nothing about. You condemn an entire nation because of the act of one man? Like putting a hippo to death because a gnat has bit its ass.

Sounds to me you are a hater.

Used to be these folks only had the street corner - till the cops moved them along. Now everyone has a bullhorn and nobody moves anyone along.

And the shooters of this particular stripe used to be institutionalized before they obtained a weapon.

Who'da thunk that painting a gunsight target on Gifford would be taken literally by some crackpot? The gunman is said to be a 'Liberal'. Go figgur. So it isn't a right- wing issue. It is, however, an example of hunter/killer metaphors being taken literally by the mentally feeble who think that 'taking out' somebody is perfectly normal.

One NUT who wanted some attention. Then you have another NUT on MSNBC who blamed this on Sarah Palin, Sharon Angle, Bill OReilly, and others, not to mention Conservative Hater Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center with his expected RANT! Can't wait to see all the new Bills pushed through the Congress because of this tragedy.

What?! After the jillions of knee-jerk reactions I've read from mouth-foaming libs claiming that it was a right-wing, Palin loving, Fox-watching, Tea Party nutcase?

Yeah, imagine that reaction from the lovely libs. I wonder if this event will start off the cull which some people are saying is coming.

Hmmm, I can just imagine it with all those weapons around in the States. America's second civil war.

It's being reported now that this guy had letters in his safe. One that states he has targeted Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords since 2007. Lot of the blame game here is being placed on the Tea Party which was not even active in 2007. Thanks Keith Keith Olbermann for sturring the kettle and calling it black.

"Those on the right?" The shooter had arrests for possession of narcotics paraphenalia, said his favorite books were by Karl Marx. A classmate states the shooter was "anti-flag." Hardly the c.v. of a tea-partier!

If anything, he was apolitical and crazier than a sack of chipmunks.

Puh-leeze! If you can't call it "The Recent Unplesantness," at least refer to the potential conflict as our "Second War of Independence" (or maybe Third War, depending on how you count).

You are all off base. We really know nothing about this guy. He was a loon. Everything else is just speculation and media bs.

Forget the rest of this. There are a lot of nuts out there, so stop giving this guy his moment of fame.

He doesn't deserve it.

Compared to the left, the right has been Mother Teresa like as far as hate speech and inflammatory acts. The airwaves are packed with examples of the hate speech from the left as a result of the dumb ass left trying to pin this on the Tea Party and Palin etc. You would have to have your head planted firmly where the sun don't shine to miss this fact.

...and depicted the Dems as de facto traitors out to destroy

Well, the "Dems", as they are today, are socialists, hell bent on "fundamentally changing" our country to socialism. This fundamental change from capitalism and personal freedom to socialism IS destroying America. The two economic systems are incompatible.

The rhetoric, more accurately the lies, come almost exclusively from the left. For example, their attempts to tie this tragedy to Sara Palin, or Limbaugh, Beck and the Tea Party is awesome, particularly when the guy is a godless socialist with zero in common with any of those mentioned.

You mean things like a painting of a guy pointing a gun at the head of a Sarah Palin likeness sitting next to a cardboard cutout of her daughter in a museum display, or a bumper sticker simply stating "ABORT PALIN", or a tee shirt stating "Kill Bush" might be taken literally by some mentally feeble killer?

The hate crap from the left is rampant and has been for years. It is almost non-existent on the right and even a hint of it exudes reams of print from the left wing media propaganda machine, while the torrent of hate from the left is ignored or worse, glorified.

Yeah. It's a shame there isn't a continuum in between those extremes, or gradations.

I mean ... just the mere fact that it IS either unfettered Capitalism or absolute and total Socialism ... really is a barrier to be reckoned with, huh ?

Can't be easy to be you, Jack -- seeing the world in such stark black- and-white terms.

Luckily, it isn't that way at all :-)

Ah... the hate crap from the right too.
