Source for wood painting and repair

Feb 13, 2004 1 Replies

I am located in Miami Florida and recently bought a wall unit at a sample sale for a deep discount. The shelf is scratched in some areas so I would like to completely repaint all the shelves (not the support or other parts, just the shelves). I have painted before and can never get the smooth dull sheen I wanted so this be better contracted out. Where can I take this to for this type of work? A cabinet shop?

Also, when the disassembled the unit, they had to unscrew a piece of wood and the moron brute forced it and cause a chip in the upright member. It is MDF is there anyway to repair a dent in MDF?

Thanks for any comment/advise.

You can use a plastic body filler such as BondoT to fill in the dent. Most cabinet shops don't have a finishing shop. Those that do may not want to finish something they did not build, however, you might call a few to see if they won't finish it for you. Try calling a few paint contractors that hopefully has a good spray man. Also, some furniture refinishers can put a finish on it for you and repair the dent.
