My wife has an idea to take a cherry slab I have that is about 4 feet long and 12 inches wide -on the cut side- and do something with it. Maybe a shelf. Who knows. The bark is on the slab and she wants it to remain. The only way I can think of is to use a lot of thin CA glue. Anybody else have a idea.

topic comes up here from time to time
have used resin to do this and used less hardener so it took longer to set and had more timme to soak in
this was on some porous oak bark
so it depends on the bark and other things

Agreed on the resin/bar finish. The only thing I'd caution you on is to tr y to find one with less UV inhibitors-- assuming that one of the things we all love about Cherry is how it ages to its warm auburn tone, if you put a UV blocker on it, you'll impair or slow that process.
