I've been a subscriber of his for a few months, but I'm still not sure what "Kooch" (sp?) is? I don't know whether he used the term is this video or not, but he says it alot! He should write a dictionary.

Skookum Choocher! :-)

From what I can translate, skookum means good-- does the job very well. Choocher is just slang for the thing that does the job. Chooch being the verb form.

This saw is choochin along great! I'm guessing it was derived from a choo-choo train. Little engine that could, right? The train is choochin along the tracks. It's a good train, strong train-- a real skookum choocher!

Apparently, skookum is a Chinook slang word for strong, powerful. According to wiki, anyway.

Thank you Mike! I nominate you for our "Group Etymologist". It took me

5 minutes to search for what your title should be! : ) As far as Chinook goes, I like salmon. As in, those Chinooks really skookum chooch as they go through the rapids upstream!

Wow, those two videos make me soooo happy I bought the Grizzly track saw system instead of the obscenely overpriced festooly with its cheapo bronze bushings and pinched wires etc. My workhorse Grizz is a finely crafted, all ball-bearing BEAST that has served me very well with near daily jobsite usage.

So it was going to be bottom end or top end when you bought? Makita, DeWalt, Bosch , Triton were not on your radar?

Not to feed the troll further but the available accessories and even aftermarket compatible accessories matter too, as does dust collection. IMO, Festool was the clear winner when they're taken into account.
