Big 'ol hunk-o-iron gloat

Been looking for a new saw for a while. Ebay has a kewl feature where you put in your search terms and it will mail you any new items it finds each day. I have a search on "saw planer sander" in the North Carolina region. After missing many unisaws over the past 8 months (several going for what is just under the new price) I came across a Powermatic 71 - 5HP - 3phase saw on the search. I usually stayed away from 3phase so I wasnt even going to bother w/ it. That was until I talked w/ an old buddy on mine who is one of those genius types when it comes to electronics. He was like yea - we can build a phase converter no problem then proceeded to go into all the details - which just sounded like white noise to me ;) In anycase - ended up getting it for $636.85 which I think is a pretty great price - considering my current saw I have I paid about 300 more for. The great thing is that there is no shipping b/c its about 45 mins from me! Can wait to knaw into someof that 12/4 oak I have!!!

BTW - anyone want to buy a Unisaw - Ill be posting details on it on Monday after I pick up the new beast!

Thanks Rob

Nice find! I would like to see it tear through some of that ebony at Jackson.
