There is a good deal more expertise about for a project like the Severn Barrage than there is for specialisms like Nuclear Power. The one thing we can be reasonably certain of is that the predicted power output is an accurate estimate.

The Greens are rather more subtle than you are over dissing tidal power. They are arguing for tidal lagoons instead of a full barrage in the hope that twice the cost for half the power will sink the project.
