Does that show that Connecticut is the most corrupt, the best at identifying and prosecuting corrupt officials, or that they have the dumbest corrupt officials (who get caught rather than skating)?

They claim there's a massive takeup of smart meters, yet when I phoned to get mine (only because I was offered £100 credit, and because my old meter was f***ed) I was offered an appointment morning or afternoon any day I liked starting tomorrow. He tried to convince me they were a wonderful thing because you could see how much electricity you were using right now, not at the end of 6 months. Until I showed him the £10 device which clamps onto a meter tail and transmits wirelessly to a device inside which has precisely the same logging functions.

I always buy the parts myself. 50% of garages will fit your own parts. Not sure why, maybe they still make a small profit, but charge markup to the gullible. Some garages won't do the work unless they can steal the markup. It's taking the piss when a part is 3 to 4 times more expensive.

Not sure what you mean by "buy it". My first car was "written off" by the insurance of the woman who reversed into the side of it at speed (her foot slipped off the clutch). I was given the estimated £700 value of my car. And of course I got to keep the car. So I bought my boss's almost identical but very knackered car for £70 (I had to hold it in gear all the way home, the gear linkage was a piece of welding rod he'd tied on), and took the doors from it to repair the damage. Got loads of spare parts too. Except the wing mirror which a lorry managed to knock off while reversing carelessly up my street that evening!

Privatization = competition = cheap. Government controlled = jobs for the boys = expensive.
