Will BT Youview box work with ee Broadband?

I have a BT Youview box, and it never crossed my mind that it might not work with a particular brand of broadband connection.

How is yours currently connected to the router?

As far as I know all BT YouView boxes work with any internet connection. I have mine on a Zen fibre connection. Its sometimes a bit slow to update the apps, it took much longer than the TV to get the ITV X app.

BT did some multicast TV stuff back in the day which required special network setup, but I don't think any of that is still operational. So otherwise I expect it'll work on any broadband. Perhaps you won't get BT TV or whatever, but that's a subscription service in the first place.

Errr.... BT actually own EE...... :-)

So is PlusNet but you can't use a Plusnet router on BT or EE and as far as I know BT routers don't work on PlusNet.

.. or to put it another way, if BT can break something in order to sell you a replacement or upgrade they will ...

When I was on FTTC I used a BT Hub 6 to connect to PN…

I remember BT remotely zapping their HGV/2-Wire ADSL modems that were being used on other networks if an internal address hadn’t been changed.

And I thought I had read somewhere that the latest person in charge of decision-making at BT has reversed the previous incumbents decision to make EE do all the consumer side stuff and leave BT to deal with corporates and businesses ?.

The BT TV Pro (Youview) box was claimed to need a BT Smart Hub 2 and BT Broadband, but possibly only for some subscription services.
