Why do circuit breakers go up for on and down for off?

There's f*ck all friction, which is why they want the cars to wait for the train at a level crossing, and not the other way round. And why the new tunnel the Germans are building couldn't go right underground and had to be installed on the bottom of the ocean, because the pathetic toy trains couldn't handle the incline. This is the 21st century, we have cars. Public transport is for chavs.

Each car I have had (10 including my wife's), has had up for faster on the wiper stalk (or a rotating ring on the stalk, where the front of the ring goes upwards).

In my last car, braking hard (emergency breaking) brought on the flashers.

Depends on the electrician. With suitable gauge wire, a 20 A switch, and a 20 A breaker, you can plug most household loads (like a vacuum cleaner or toaster) into such a circuit.

I searched for that series yesterday night, out of curiosity, but Amazon Prime here doesn't carry it. :-(

Of course, same here, people use it. But the law has not changed.

I think that the legal way to do it here is touch the brake lightly several times to make the red lights blink.

That's fine, but by the time you are braking that hard you are very close to the hazard. I put mine on long before that, as soon as I see the tail end of the queue, maybe before I've started to brake much, given that I brake gently at high speed and progressively increase the braking as I get slower: gentler on the passengers and less likely to provoke a high-speed skid.

I also use my hazard lights to supplement flashing my headlights at oncoming traffic if I've just passed a hazard (eg broken-down car) that is just behind me on the other side of the road, round the corner - to say "there is a hazard that you need to be aware of, just round the corner".

A cheap stereo from the 90s was like that. Switch built into the arm.

I prefer the Garrard turntable my grandfather built into a big wooden box with big amplifiers. Auto stop, cushioned lowering of the stylus etc. Very smooth everything, the turntable had a lot of inertia in it, must have been a big heavy flywheel underneath for smooth rotation.

Sounds like a good way to stop your neighbour listening to the radio.

I doubt it was illegal at that short a distance. You can (or could recently) buy a transmitter to convert something (mp3?) into FM to go to your car stereo. It wouldn't get far outside the car.

In fact it would have to be the opposite, the iron contracts more do it drops thru what holds the cannon balls when cold enough.

Don't buy that with the prefabs and we can see that your number is a lie using google street view.

I didn't read carefully. I thought he said trimming the capacitor that's in one of the tuned circuits.

No, trimming the length of the antenna would likely just decrease transmission range.
