Why do circuit breakers go up for on and down for off?

Rolls-Royce used to use splined hubs, with a single hub-nut, but the nut had a spring-loaded section around the hole. When the section was pushed in, it could be screwed on and off, but when it spring out flush to the surface of the nut, it locked into the splines. They supplied a special hub-nut spanner that held it in when installing or removing it.

I see you haven't a f****ng clue. Quadcopters have two clockwise motors and props and threads and two anti clockwise, anrranged diagonally opposite so that torque is evened out, broadly. To turn it you vary the power to one set of motors versus the other. Pitch and roll is done by differential thrust on adjacent pairs

Not uncommon in this group.
Even single-shaft helicopters use coaxial counter-rotating main rotors.

A contra-rotating propeller is more efficient.

My mother told me about that, using the phone's hookswitch. Its a way to make calls when you weren't supposed to and the dial had been disabled or removed. I seem to remember doing that once.

Recently, we have been getting a lot of ads for utility line insurance. Same thing, pay for repairs you may not need and pay more.

I remember seeing a drawing of a man standing in the smoking remains of a house and saying "at least I saved 68 cents on a new fuse".

I don't think anything I said contradicts your description. Two clockwise propellers run clockwise, to diagonally opposite anti-clockwise propellers run anti-clockwise. What you don't do is run a propeller two wrong way, otherwise you will generate "anti-lift" - a downwards force that acts in the same direction as the weight. I suppose very brief "anti-lift" on some propellers will change the attitude (left/right and fore/aft) more quickly than just stopping two props.
But a clockwise prop turning clockwise and an anti-clockwise prop turning anti-clockwise will generate identical lift, for the same speed, diameter and pitch angle. There's nothing that makes one direction better than the other, which is what Carlos's "actually they do" seems to imply. Just as right-handed and left-handed screws are equally good at joining pieces of wood/metal as long as you remember to turn them in opposite directions ;-)

I get one for electric or water lines every couple of weeks. Sure, it can happen but I've been a homeowner for 56 years and never had an issue that would be covered. This house is 4 years old so I'm not concerned. Better that money in my pocket. .

Not everything in the house. It was all over the attic, and in truth, I'm not positive it was still connected. I should ask my friend about that too.
Ah. A lof of safety enforcement is done by insurance companies that is not covered by government regulation. Is that true in Spain and Europe too?

I use the numpad even to type a 4 digit number. So much faster, easier, and more accurate.

That involved other people.

WTF is that meant to mean?
You don't need to remember anything, you move the stick the same way you're turning the wheel!!!

Never ever say "offside". I don't know which side of the road you drive on, so that's utterly meaningless. Left or right is universal.
Never thought of that. Although I can't say changing gear or indicating take that long, so one can be done after the other. The only time I get annoyed is when the stupid thing cancels on a roundabout and I have to engage it three f****ng times. Then again we should all be driving automatics, manuals are an unnecessary extra.
I assumed the convention was they were on the (centre of the car) side of the wheel. I've only driven a left hand drive once, and I didn't notice the indicator being "wrong" for me.
It's never anticlockwise to turn right. At least you didn't say that horrid word "counterclockwise", which sounds even worse with a Merkin accent missing out the T.

I didn't know we ever had it on the wrong side. Strangely the only time I came across this problem was my boss driving a company car with me as a passenger. The company car had the indicator on the left, he turned on the wipers and claimed his car had the indicators on the right. But he had a 1995 Ford Focus. I doubt that was still backwards, since my 1990 Ford Sierra had them on the left. Maybe he was remembering an older car he used to own. I've never owned anything pre-1988.
I turn the wipers faster instead of off. My stupid Renault has up for faster. Never seen a wiper stalk work that way in a car.
I drove my neighbour's Rover 75 for her when she was ill, and I couldn't find the headlights on the stalk. It was a seperate switch on the dashboard, which I couldn't find since it didn't even have a timer on the interior light, so I was in pitch black as soon as I closed the door!

I had to look it up.

I've never seen it here. Maybe, just maybe, something related from before I was born. But we don't build houses with wood, like in the photos. All brick, mortar, stone, concrete.

No, the insurance company doesn't ask details about my house.
