What sort of hinges do I need for this?

Good afternoon to the assembled company. I'm wanting to hinge 2 pieces of 3/4" plywood such that one piece will move through about 120 degrees. The main criteria is that the 2 pieces remain

*reasonably* flush and stepless. Not very easy to explain but I hope you'll get the drift. I recall seeing some cylindrical hinges connected by chain links that might fit the bill. These fitted into the edge of both boards. Very light duty purpose and to be infrequently used. If anyone can guess the exact intended use, I will award a virtual beer token. Many thanks, Nick.
