water softener killed my boiler!!

Hi guy's

Looks like my inherited (15yr+??) water softener has been o/d'ed on salt and corroded the 6 yr Worcester Combi H.E.

So as the replacement H.E is @300 quid!! I think it'll be more economically viable to change to a new uprated condensing one.

So, I'm now investigating both.Therefore recommendations sought

Any suggestions most welcome ;-)
