Wasps!

reminds me of a friend who used to use freezing spray to cool CPUs in his office- they used to freeze flies mid-flight and tie cotton to them before they defrosted and took off again- then they had an entertaining streamer through the air.

I'm going to complain about my wasps and get ASBOs placed on them.

If you eat Hartleys you deserve wasps.

You know that, I know that, she knows all that I'm sure, I can't tell her anything. It's not rocket science.

As for pleading special circumstances, she's heavily pregnant but even that wouldn't make her want to play the system. She joined on principle, not for any other reason.

Please note that the weather models today are starting to show a deteriorating weather situation (for your daughter's purposes and location). There is now a risk of showers from Monday onwards. These are being shown to the north and west of her but a little too close for comfort for haymaking. Temperatures are now looking much lower than expected, as well.

The reason for the date is to allow the grass/flower seeds to set. Due to the weather we have had, my seeds had set very early this year (at the start of the month). This fact formed part of my request. It is not playing the system, it is understanding the reasons and getting the best out it (for both the land and myself). I can assure you that the CCW do not allow such derogations lightly but wish to ensure the best for the land. Poor hay reduces the quality of food in the time leading up to lambing. This then affects the quality of the sheep and lambs. The sheep are part of the equation to ensure good quality land. In fact, CCW insist on the land being grazed by either (or both) sheep or cattle. It is an equation that needs to be adjusted at times, not just stuck to rigidly.

A few days isn't going to diminish the quality.

You're fortunate to have enough spare time to do such things. Not everyone is, timetables must be kept - they involve many other things.

Yes - we can see that coming here too - we'll all be relieved.

I have no other aids than my eyes and experience. I'm rarely wrong about out local weather, nobody else's is of interest.

It will if it rains or if you have to wait too long for the right weather. As far as hay quality is concerned, the grass reaches a peak and then starts to go downhill.

It is not spare time. It is my life.

Look, Howard, she's been making hay on her farm - which isn't the same as yours - for many years. she's never had to buy any in - in factshe's sold some. I reckon that she knows more about HER conditions (which includes optimum timing) than you do.

What, reading weather charts?

LOL!

It still doesn't alter the fact that a few days *can* diminish the quality of hay. I was not saying she could not make hay. I was trying to be helpful and I get this tirade.

No. The farm. In any case, there is more to meteorology than a few charts but that was not what I was referring to.

Have to agree with that, it's nasty. Got tempted by a 'buy one get one free' and ended up chucking them. Tesco's Finest isn't bad, and not that dear...

By dear old dad used to put stewed fruit directly onto bread - yum! At this time of year when fruit supplies are plentiful and cheap, it makes a good alternative to jam. Stewed rhubarb... yum... on Irish wheaten bread... dribble...

Anythingfrom T*sc* is -

No, I'll not go there.

So did I. And so do I. You have problem with that?

The only thing for very good, real (i.e. not T*sc*) wheaten bread is butter. The best butter.

It needs nothing else.

Except that shrimps are acceptable. With butter.
