Does anyone know what voltages these tend to be? 230ac or a dc voltage?

All the older machines I've seen have been 240V AC.
A modern electronic machine could just conceivably have a low voltage DC coil for driving convenience - I couldn't comment.
It was low voltage on my (~5 year old) Hotpoint.
