Warmup underfloor heating - do I have to use insulation boards?

We're planning on putting Warmup underfloor heating in our bathroom. It is not the main source of heating (it's a warm room anyway), it's just to take the chill off the tiles. So I'm thinking: Can I get away without the insulation boards they recommend? Can I literally just tape the element to the floorboards (it's a brand new floor) and tile over it? Any advice appreciated.

I don't know about the u/f heating but I do know about tiling a wooden floor - you are aware that you should lay a layer of at least 9mm ply ?

Its OK to tile over 19mm chip.

No reason really to insulate it either, provided you don't mind heating what's underneath as well as whats above..

Friend of mine has a bathroom that simply has a pair of CH pipes running under the floor in the bathroom..that heats the tiles enough to make them nice to walk on with bare feet.

I don't think so.

Unless you are a 59 year old female company director?
