Used PC components

I kept them in a box, until PC's no longer used whatever interfaces the parts had, and then binned them. I remember over 10 years ago taking a box of ISA cards to the tip.

I have reused a few bits, like the smaller heatsinks on Raspberry Pi's and LED lights I've made. Also, ATX PSUs and fans when one dies in some other machine. Likewise memory DIMMs. I'm about to reuse an ATX case for a non-PC lash-up (Raspberry Pi backup server with several disks attached).

Around here, folks leave such stuff on the pavement outside the confines of their property.

Advertise them on one of the free sites ;Freegle, Freecycle, Gumtree (under freebies) or leave them out on the pavement for the scrap man.

I recently gave away about 20 untested AGP video cards & a couple of years back half a small van load of ancient PC bits.

How old is old? Check ebay for the resale value. Some old parts can still have decent value. eg I'm in the market for an i7-6700K CPU from 2016, current ebay pricing about £50.
