USB Webcam

I need a webcam that's [only] USB-connected, for both video and audio. (Because the PC I want to plug it into *only* has USB inputs)

Despite scouring adverts for such a thing that claimed to be USB connected, and didn't show a lurking jack-plug, nor describe one, for the audio component ..... the one which arrived today had both connectors. ARRGHHH!

What can the team suggest for the Webcam I actually need (mainly for Zoom, but perhaps some Teams and Skype)?

To avoid ratholes, I'm not going to discuss why the PC in question

*only* has USB inputs, other than to say it's an HDMI-stick PC, and of very small physical footprint.

Is it possible that the audio is available via usb as well as via the jack plug?

I bought a HD-USB webcam last year c. £15. The picture quality is impressive, but the audio *dire*. For the price, and because I can use another headset, I put up with it.

If I were to advise, it would be separate audio and video devices.

I have a couple of Logitech C525 webcams, which work well. Since USB connection. The mike is OK, but I use a separate headset with noise cancelling mike anyway.

A good question. But my Windows settings, and the Skype "Call back service" suggests not.

The one I have is clearly a knock-off of the C920 physical design. But at a tenth of the price.

Have found another candidate on Amazon at £19.98, allegedly arrives tomorrow (which is undue haste).

You can buy an analogue to USB adaptor - typically jacks to USB. I bought a set of headphones with one, to give me the choice. The USB adaptor is active.

C390. which I see that I bought about 10 years ago.

It seems fine for Teams meetings and includes a microphone.

Looks as though it might be expensive though.

Which to be fair describes most webcams...

Have you checked if it also outputs the audio over USB?

(windows would show an additional audio input device, and zoom would allow it to be selected in the audio settings)

Most logitech ones are fine. I have a Sandberg HD one at the moment, also good:

The Logitech C525s I have work fine with Zoom, although I mostly use my own jitsi server.

I have just had a tripod mount 3D printed for me...!

The Microsoft lifecam Studio and Cinema series webcams are excellent. I have had 3 cinemas for a number of years and 1 lifecam studio that are really good, with super microphones.
