Apologies for the urgent request but we are currently sans toilet and at our age that classes as an emergency.
I am replacing the siphon in our close coupled toilet including a new doughnut, clamping plate and bolts. When removing the old one I found the siphon, clamping plate and doughnut smothered with silicone. I always thought these were to be fitted dry but is current practice to silicone as well or does what I found suggest a replacement siphon was fitted using the old doughnut with silicone added due to leaks?
