Toilet was leaking onto floor
Found that rats? had chewed (teeth makes visible!) around rubber pan connector and through hard plastic pipe the latter causing the leak
These were replaced about a month ago - have just checked and the rubber pan connector has been badly chewed again
Are there any preventive measures ?

Move? Get the rat man's advice.
Get rid of the rodents. Rat teeth marks are two parallel cuts just over
1/8" wide the pair. Mice similar but about 1/2 the size.
Killing the rats would be the best preventive measure.

Then you kill them, you don't stop killing rats.
They leap up through the water on the trap and nip anything dangly (of course) :o)
