You're right. I did misinterpret the sentence. For my sin, may I be flagellated to within an inch of my life!
A Jap would have the decency to disembowel itself.
Do it outside so you don't make a mess of the carpet and we can just hose most of your entrails away.
At least you know who your friends are.
Did they have a Health and Safety there ?
The Health and Safety at my place, took my trike away when I wasn't there. Checked the cabinet and it was gone. I didn't know our stockroom records system, worked so good :-) I only used a little bit once, and that was my "solvent of last resort". I wasn't drinking the stuff or anything.

They did the same with carbon tetracloride. It had been used a couple of times to commit rape.
One of our maths teachers used to run an electronics club after school, he let us use carbon tet as a contact cleaner, he also gave me a power supply from a blue streak rocket ...
30 years ago I joined a small sunrise company (soon became a sunset comapny, happens so often for hi-tech startups) and it was just about the time that the H&S obseesion was taking hold in the country.
Being short of office space, my desk faced a wall with a bookshelf above.
When, later on, the end of that bookshelf collapsed, the folder on the end fell onto my head.
That folder was the nascent, incipient, inchoate, growing H&S manual! :-)
Being a CEGB site, I guess there was some degree of H&S, but not at the level you would expect today.
Different times...
