"Warner Bros Discovery has slashed the estimated value of its television channels by more than $9bn (£7.1bn) in a sign of the looming death of traditional TV.

The US media giant, which owns channels including CNN, Food Network and TNT Sports, said its network division was now worth $9bn less than previously thought.

Analysts suggested that the write-down was a sign that the decline of traditional television was accelerating.

Industry watcher Alex DeGroote said it “signals the decline in linear is now accelerating much quicker than we all expected”.

He added: “This is not just a cyclical decline, but a structural reset in media valuations.”"

12 million pensioners are glued to the Footage Detectives on TPTV every Sunday.

In our case, very rarely at 17:00.

I prefer to use the Sky+ system to watch that and any other programme, on any other channel, which has ad breaks.

Youtube often has a better choice.

But, surely Warner Bros Discovery can go streaming and if the content is any good people will still watch it.

I'd have thought so. But they are paying Sky for satellite carriage.

But hasnt got a hope in hell of competing with the majors.

But that stuff is already available on the major streaming networks which have a hell of a lot more than just that available as well.

And what they are doing is realistically valuing their TV channels, not saying that they can't survive into the future.
