A 1950's house with overhead phase/neutral and the only earth I can find is to the cold water rising main. I have a 5/8 x 4' earthing rod that I thought to use to improve the situation. However the only place I can properly drive this into earth is some 20 metres away from the CU. Is that ok? (from regs pov and real world :-))
ot: A few years back we had an est. from the elec. Co. It wasn't taken up but found the paperwork the other day and on it it says PME earth! Would that have meant they would provide such an earth? I thought PME had to be bonded to E-N all the way back to the xformer. As all the houses around here are TT - can TT be PME too, then?
