TRV replacement heads

Following a suggestion in here that thermostatic radiator valve heads can age and fail, I checked for availability and pricing on our 22 year old Mysons.

It appears that these require a thread adapter at a cost of ?5.00 or so.

When did the new version arrive?

The length between the head plunger and the valve pin must also be critical otherwise it wont activate the valve.

I had some Honeywell TRVs which I think were re-badged old-style Myson, like this

They were in this house when I moved in 25+ years ago, so I'd say they were knocking-on for 30 years old, are yours 28mm (old) or 30mm (new) thread?

Hmm.. 28mm ish. Certainly not 30:-(

Builders here at the moment. I'll ask if their scrap skip has any old radiators to scavenge.

The adaptor steps up to 30mm and has a centre plunger to take up the space.
