I am in the process of dividing the man cave from the rest of the garage, this involves a studded wall across the back end of the garage. All the walls floor and ceiling are going to be insulated with 75mm Celotex which means on the man cave side the floor will be higher than the rest of the garage. If I fill the stud spaces with Celotex at floor level there will be an overlap so no problems with cold bridging but will leave me with nothing to fix the PB to at floor level. I am thinking of just fixing some additional noggins onto the floor plate to just above the floor level but this will mean no overlap of the floor and wall insulation. Will this cause cold bridging or is solid timber anywhere near the insulation capability of Celotex?
I do not know if this has a bearing but the garage side will be faced with 12mm ply and the man cave side in PB.
