Thunderbird bug - Question

When I open this newsgroup, Thunderbird sometimes fully expands several random threads that I've not been reading anyway. Is there any way to prevent this happening? A setting somewhere perhaps? It only happens intermittently, every few days. Its just done it again now expanding 6 long random threads; so I need to close them again first before I can scan down the list looking for the latests threads.

Pressing "\" contracts all threads.

As a quick fix, hit \ to collapse all expanded threads...

The same thing has been happening to me, it's getting quite irritating now.

No, 16.02. It's been a problem for months now.

So try 17.0 - for me restarting T/B leaves all threads closed. So far. :-)

Thank you for pointing out that there is a new version!

If it's a thread that you don't plan to read at all you can just hit 'k' on any message in the thread and you won't see that thread again.

Mine does it in V2.0.0.something (not a typo - I hated the v3 upgrade) - it's been there for years!!!

Hi David

Having seen the thread, I upgraded from version 16.0 to 17.0. I have the same problem and the upgrade didn't solve the issue. Useful tip about the \ contracting all threads from Andy/John!

I was just pleased to find a news reader that I could import my former Outlook Express folders into when moving to Windows 7 from XP.

Shame. I don't seem to suffer from it - I guess at least partly because I hardly ever close/start Thunderbird. So even if it happened once a week, so be it. But if it were several times a day, that would be annoying.
