Yes Dave you said it was ok when you left, but for how long? I don't wish to prolong this thread and believe it or not I don't have an axe to grind about you personally, but your fix was IMHO a Bodge. If you are happy knowingly, even in hindsight doing work like this you are just as guilty as the ( rude word deleted) people that fitted the combi boiler.

FFS! - he fitted a service valve to a tap. He's checked with the customer that the tap is currently working OK. If it's a poorly-designed tap he didn't make it that way. If it plays up again I'm sure he'll not charge them the full whack to put it right (if it were me I'd adjust the price so they only pay what they would have if I'd sorted it out first time). Worst that happens is the damn' think leaks! It's not as if he's pissed into their loft cistern or anything ....

He could not do that as the customer has a combi.
