strange one --smelly paint??

just decorated our eldests bedroom, since then (3 weeks) there can be a strange smell in the room, it seems to be coming from the painted walls! other times it's not so strong, looked for any other sources including something dead in the loft. but cant find a thing. Only in one room!

could paint cause this?

What sort of paint originally on the walls? If it was Farrow and Ball casein bound distemper, then the vinyl emulsion you put on top could have a) moistened it; b) sealed it in. Result - smelly cheese wall.

(Obviously, you could get the same effect if it was just very old milk and limewash on the walls, rather than expensive F&B)

Christ! They don't still make that do they? That really is stone-age technology for the sake of it

then the vinyl emulsion you put on top could

No doubt F&B milk paint with cows' blood would be a money spinner
