Please, does any one know of a source for wood drill bits? The type I am looking for are rather like normal HSS drill bits but have a locating spike on the tip rather like the tip on a bradawl.
=A31-for-everything stores sometimes stock sets, but I am only looking for the small sizes - 3mm & 4mm which break easily. Packs of 10 would be ideal.

I got a PPro (or something like that) case set of mixed drills for a very small amount of money from B&Q a couple of years back, and it had a full set of the bits you describe (as well as HSS, spade and masonry bits).
Apart from breaking a couple of spades testing my blue Bosch drill on an oak tree stump for fun, the rest of the drills aren't bad.

Why yes!!! & I thought I had checked the Screwfix catalog..but I see they are listed as 'new'...
However the screwfix price is =A31.09 for just 1 - yes I know it is chrome van, but I'd be happy with cheap & nasty which can be discarded without a second thought - whilst local =A31 stores sometimes have packs of all sizes 3mm-10mm!! Would leave me with a pile of unused large sizes.
Cromwell tools sell small HSS drills in packs of 10 for not-very-much & it is that sort of offering which I would like to find.

Keep your eye on Aldi&Lidl sites as they sell these along with steel&masonary bits as a set. I think the price was about £2.99 or £3.99? but well worth it as I bought two sets last time on sale.
