SOT: Logi Options+

I tend not to bother installing the logitech stuff, maybe it lets you alter what the buttons do, but windows handles the basic mouse functionality just fine.

It does have a few more options for the two devices but isnt essential.

Well I do not recall ever having to load software for their wireless stuff. I do occasionally see waiting for background processes to close, but the time this takes is so fleeting I see no real problem, so have never investigated what is causing it. Brian

I have itinstalled on my Win 11 system and it doesn't delay shutdown on the rare occasions that I need to do it.

Does it offer any benefits though? I thought there was an argument to 'go generic' and allow the OS to manage devices where possible.

Yes, it does allow more configuration of the mouse and keyboard.

No. The OS has to deal with whatever is out there and can't handle all the variation in mice and keyboards.

Would you recommend leaving Logi in place?

Depends on whether you actually use any of the stuff that it does that the MS driver doesn't allow you to configure and which Logitech mouse and keyboard you are using. Very basic mice and keyboards dont really have much that Logitech Options allows you to do apart from some key remapping for the keyboard and it isnt clear if you ever do that.

No idea. I don't use my logitech keyboard and mice on my laptop which runs Win11, so don't see that. I am about to move to Win11 on my main PC which currently runs Win7 so I will see if I get that problem, but it still has spinning rust hard drives and I hardly ever shut down, and it does take a while with Win7, particularly when it hasnt been rebooted for a week or so so it may not be very visible even with Win11.

I will certainly try with and without Logitech Options and see if it makes any difference.

I won't be using Win10 tho.

It's almost like they use contract developers for a dev team. Is that even possible/practical, considering their product lines ???
