Soffit ventilator spacing

Jul 13, 2004 4 Replies

Hi,

just getting around to fitting some 65mm diameter circular vents into my soffits.

A quickish Google doesn't give me any details of the recommended spacing.

Can some kind person give me a figure to save me trawling through the building regs?

TIA Dave R

Generaly one between each rafter, at least thats what the Building Inspector of my recent extension wanted.

i.e.

II O II O II O II etc etc

If that makes sense where II is the rafter and O is the vent

That'll do for me - thanks.

That's only necessary if there is no cross linkage across the air between the rafters, for example if Kingspan was inserted. Half this number would easily meet the airflow requirements.

I bleiev teh requirement is cross sexctional area equivalent to a 10mm wide strip all round teh roof, plus roof vents, but I can't be arsed to check teh exact wording.

I suggest you google it
