Small 110V transformer

Anybody know where I can get a 200 to 300W step down to 110V transformer ? Just the transformer - I don't need anyhning like a cut- out, sockets, etc.

RS should have them.

Do you mean an isolating type or don't you mind?

Have read that UK construction sites sometimes use 230 to 115 step down transformers to power 115 volt hand tools etc. The centre tap of the 115 volt secondary is grounded; resulting in only 57.5 volts (RMS) from any point of the secondary to ground for added safety. This means I think that the transformer must be isolation type, with completely separate primary and secondary? The system also allows AIUI the use of 115 volts tools which are often cheaper than 230 volt models of better quality? Maybe one of those would be available, used, from some construction tools dealer or ex-rental place? If isolation is NOT an issue then an autotransformer or much smaller 'bucking' transformer might be used. As always 'What's it for'? Often better able to answer if the posters know the application! It's rather like saying "I need a garbage bag". Well OK, but what size and where and for what do you want to use it?
