got 40 packets of 10

That's 7 large boxes, worth =A3800!

It must be less than a month since I polled you all about the Screwfix lucky dip - sheesh - maybe it's just me they feel so generously inclined towards.

Fortunately for them, I'm too honest to hang on to it - though I saw an ebay auction for 8 packets of the same item that had been "accidently over-ordered".

Apparently the warehouse is fully automated pick-and-place - a software-laden/intelligence-free zone.

Just as well as if you are a business buying from a trade place you aren't covered by the law that allows you to keep them. If they track it down they can bill you for them later.

Its only retail customers that can keep unsolicited goods. Although mistakes in order quantities are on dodgey ground here iirc.

But I think you'll find such mistakes are not considered as "unsolicited goods".

googlegroups.com...

There's a lot of consumer laws that don't cover business purchases. The people on the till at PC World regularly ask if you are buying for business. Just say NO!

PC World are very willing to price match for business customers - just wave a copy of Computer Shopper.

Actually I don't have enough storage space to be *that* dishonest.

LOl..No .This is what you said although I'm sure you probably meant the same as what I said .

It's your choice. Save a few quid or retain all your right under the sale of goods act. There was a "Watchdog" style case in one of the mags recently. Basically the business customer was left at the mercy of PC World's service organization with no automatic right to a simple refund.
