I am about to set up a 20Tbyte drive in a Gen 8 box (upgraded some time ago to use a Xeon cpu. It will run debian or similar. If problems were with linux, then it would be interesting to know what went wrong. John
It's running Windows 10.
When I checked online Google AI said there were issues with large drives on the Gen8, may be worth checking and trying before you load it up!
Thank you. I will test thoroughly.
A shame, I've no idea what generation mine is, but it's 13 years old and never given any trouble. Yes, I know it's on borrowed time, and I do have a backup prepared for when the bad news comes.
In case anybody is interested in a solution this is what I got:
Standard countersunk drive screws screw into them and then they hold the drive in the carrier and have enough flexibility to pull into the countersinking in the carrier.
Just to say I ordered these but they have been stuck in the bends of Hormuz so just arrived.
Spot on, tuck in the countersinking nicely without slipping through.
Many thanks :-)
