I said rubber connector. There is a plastic pipe inside the unit and a hole in the lid. A rubber connector joins the two, fitting inside the pipe & having a flanged section that goes through the lid. An elbow fits into the top of the rubber connector leading to the discharge pipe.

The hole in the lid and the plastic pipe didn't line up, hence the need for a flexible connector - which was a piggin nightmare to get fitted.

Bad design.
