I can there are lots of options for third party replacements from amazon. Anyone have good/bad experiences of any brands? E.g. akpower, or REEXBON.

I've had four or five unbranded replacement Makita NiCads from Amazon and/or eBay and never had a problem. Don't think the life has ever been significantly shorter.
