Removing superglue from polyester/viscose/elastane cloth

Jun 17, 2026 1 Replies

The standard solvent for removing superglue is acetone, but is that safe on polyester/viscose/elastane cloth (76:16:8% respectively)?

Other suggestions such as rubbing alcohol have no effect. Is rubbing alcohol ethanol or is it isopropyl alcohol, because I've also seen IPA suggested. I imagine alcohols are kinder to artificial fibres than ketones.

Acetone or nitro-methane us all that works

Polyester safe. Viscose gone immediately. ni idea about elastane

IPA is safe but will not touch super glue
