Small house, combi system probably best. You will definately save on hot water, as unlike your present system the combi uses mains pressure hot water-ie no storage tank. Therefore use only heat the water that you draw. Heating system- again to around 2bar pressure in hot system will be more efficient. Downside is old valves rads may not take increased pressure-( simple diy job to change these). But please use gorgi reg engineer to do boiler work-dont listen to bone heads-they'll kill ya !
