Re: New Windows 7 install (update)

I looked a Macrium Reflect but didn't even attempt to try the "free for

30 days" thing as it was heavily driven towards the big push on continuing subscription so no doubt would have contained all sorts of hoops and spam.

I tried Clonezilla after the first attempts failed but it didn't seem to be able to work in reverse i.e. cloning the old system disk which was now in an external USB case i.e. /dev/sdb to the replacement SSD now internal as /dev/sda

With any other PC I'd have just swapped the drives back but this p.c. is a plastic shell case that you have to carefully run a plastic card around the touch-screen to hopefully pop the clips without snapping anything so I didn't want to dismantle it again. Only access panel is to the system memory on the rear.

Just another day of learning by mistakes again. :)

Thanks Paul. Just downloaded both versions to "OneDrive" for future use.

When I did my other PC I fitted a Samsung SSD and the free "Samsung Magician" utillity was so simple. I even tried that butsadly the target drive is "PNY" brand or something so it didn't play along.

Cheers Pete
