So why the opportunistic kills? Perhaps it's pleasurable for them, after all you would agree they are sentient beings.

Everything we do has costs and consequences. If you're not aware of those costs & consequences, your opinion ain't worth poop!

Generally, if left undisturbed, the fox returns to collect to 'extra' carcases.

Yeah. Same with many animals that 'store' food for the winter or leaner times, the most obvious being squirrels and even fiddler crabs.
And this is the thing with some people, they align foxes of 'killing for pleasure' to somehow offset our killing of animals because of how they taste, which is for us a choice but for pretty well all animals, survival.
I have lived quite happily from Jan this year without killing any animal and I can be weak willed, especially when it comes to food! ;-)
What makes it easy (in a determination / lifestyle sense) is as a real animal lover I couldn't justify the / my logical inconsistency of defending say a dog from any level of cruelty whilst putting many livestock though scientifically proven levels of cruelty (mental, emotional, metabolic and physical). I just can't do it.
It's not that I can't do it (I did for 60 years etc), it's that I don't believe (I have realised, sadly later than now might) I have the right to do it and therefore won't if I don't have to.
I stopped consuming dairy a few years ago because it gave me a mucus cough that would sometimes neatly have me passing out, trying to breath and cough at the same time.
I (we) used to regularly take the likes of Gaviscon for acid reflux and we realised the other day that neither of us have since we tried veganism this Jan!
People say I've lost weight (and we haven't been dieting and rarely feel hungry, other than approaching mealtimes etc) and I still feel as fit and active as ever (Daughter said the other day that she doesn't feel I've changed (/aged) in the 30 years she's known me, physically or mentally <g>).
In fact, going vegan has opened up a whole range of foodstuffs that I might not have tried before and now really enjoy and appreciate. It's not 'vegan food', it's just (and always has been and for longer than humanity has been eating meat of course), 'food'. ;-)

They know more about animal behaviour, than you, a typical clueless, armchair-expert townie do.

Total absolute, utter BS. Even by your standards too.
You'll be self-diagnosing yourself with 'ME' next.

Have you not read all the other replies (one from a farmer) that confirm that foxes do indeed bury any surplus food, as would many other animals (like dogs)?
And how do you know I live in a town and / or don't spend loads of time in the country?
Is all this just desperation because you think you are right and you simply ignore any contradictions (confirmation bias).
Foxes don't kill for pleasure, they kill to survive and would, in nature, bury any surplus kills and return to them later. Fact.
I suggest you stop digging (unless you also have surplus food to bury and humans have done that as well). ;-)
Lastly, even if foxes were to 'kill for pleasure', do you set your moral compass on what an animal might do?

Sorry (Rod?), I thought you were just confused, now I realise you are just a desperate troll and so will join the list of pointless wasters that I'm ignoring (my early new years resolution).
If you were worth it, I'd get a copy of my doctors notes where *he suggested* I cut out dairy as an answer to my coughing issue. [1] AFAIK, I don't have any allergic reaction to anything, but have not been tested against anything.
Cheers, T i m
[1] It would sometimes happen when I was IT Training and I've even had the delegates suggest I go and get a drink of water and compose myself, rather than trying to continue to talk and cough (so there would be another batch of witness that would prove your assertions to be BS). I'd had the issue several years and it went pretty quickly after I stopped consuming cows milk (and cut back on cheese etc). Now I realise I shouldn't have been surprised as it was never destined for humans in the first place.

So, you've adopted a narcissistic virtue-signalling lifestyle choice, and for some reason you seem to have to keep telling people about it.
Yes you can. What about the logical inconsistency of 'owning' a dog for your own pleasure, having its reproductive system mutilated for your own pleasure, feeding it on a diet of your choice for your own pleasure, and dragging it about on a lead for your own pleasure? Whatever makes you think the dog isn't suffering emotionally, metabolically and physically?
It sounds like you're crying over spilt soya milk.
Some vegetables aggravate arthritis.
I don't have acid reflux, and I eat meat. How does that fit into your philosophy?
One of the causes of AR is being overweight, and you have boasted of losing weight on your vegan diet. This alone could have ended your case of AR. It seems like you are very unaware of even basic things, and are drawing comforting but false conclusions as a justification for your lifestyle choice, and parading them as successes. We who can see the wider picture are of course not taken in by your boastings.
That's not good news. If you go back over your posts since the beginning of this year, it's very clear that you started going off the rails about the end of March, possibly as your stores of vitamin B12 were used up. Since then you've behaved in the manner of a swivel-eyed loon.
