I believe the Kress sourced tools are serviced by the Kress main service dealer. Their boilers are made by Halstead, but badged Wickes, and the customer number directs you to them.

It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "IMM" saying something like:

On your planet, MZs are better than BMWs too, I've no doubt.

I find that hard to believe.

I know tradesmen who have. Kress is a top make, although you probably have never heard of them. As it has been pointed out, top makes in the US rebadge their kit, as do one of the leading building supply outlets in the UK.

Do you have a Kress?

The reality is that they are a small manufacturer in Germany who make some of their products locally and import the rest from the far east,.

There is nothing wrong with that, but they are not a global brand.

What relevance is a "global brand"? Err none. The are sold in the Uk under the name Kress and re-badged as the grey Wickes range. Ask at a Wickes information counter and they will tell you the OEM. They have good service, equal quality to the best and are very well priced, especially when sold by Wickes. Whether they are sold in some obscure African country or not has no relevance.

Have you actually tried to obtain spares? It's quite possible they will supply for their own sales, but not re-branded stuff - which may not in any case be identical. A quick visit to their website was no help at all...

IME the only thing people "in the trade" care about is the price of the tool (higher -> more admiration), the discount it was bought at (higher -> gasps of wonder and admiration mixed with jealousy), and whether it's available in a flashy colour with shiny bits in a nice case. The actual specification "don't always enter into it". Oh, & whether it comes in 110v.

well, perhaps bizarrely, I'd like to know where I would get service from before committing my time, effort and money. If it's Wickes, forget it.

The potentially nice stuff on the Kress site certainly isn't available (18v drill driver with 2x3AH batteries and 45 min charger).
