Not exactly DIY, but I have to commend Miele. The Great Dane pup recently chewed the flex of our 8.5 year old cat&dog cleaner. When I 'phoned them, a new flex and housing was £55, but anything up to a 10 year old machine could be serviced for £83. For the latter, a box arrives the next day. You put the cleaner and any accessories in it (most of which I didn't, as they'd been destroyed by previous animals and been replaced with generics), together with a (long) list of what's wrong with it. The courier comes back to take it and two days later you get back what might as well be a complete new cleaner. No doubt it's the original motor, but there was nowt wrong with that anyway!
