The polycarbonate over the veranda and car port is getting grubbier and grubbier.
In the past I've used a brush on the end of a hose, but there are some growths which are hard to shift.
Has anyone successfully used a power washer, or will this just strip bits of plastic off?

I have used a power washer on polyester/fiberglass roofing, and it will strip bits off on the older bits, if careless and too close, and the plastic over the glass is weathered.
I have since spent on a disinfectant for that purpose, i.e. cleanign roofing plastic. Spray on, let dry: algae die, harder growths will take "up to" a year to die and weather away.
BAC seems to be the active ingedient. (Benzalkonium chloride...)

And usually much cheaper to buy BAC50 (50%) on Ebay etc. and dilute it
10:1 to spray on to the roof with something like a garden sprayer. Chose a day without wond and fairly warm for the solution to dry on the roof.Algae and moss will die off fairly quickly but you will need a few heavy rainfalls over a period of a 2 to 4 months for the dead material to wash off.
I know somebody did it on a conservatory, with that box construction shape, but it was still in pretty good nick. One of the problems with the cheaper stuff, particularly the corrugated stuff, is that it goes brittle in the frost and sun, eventually going cloudy, by which point almost anything you do either cracks it or makes it fall to bits. It would be nice to know what the difference is between the good and the bad polycarbonate. My guess is some kind of plasticizer that does not go away after a hot summer. Brian
Yes the stuff I got on Amazon certainly got the moss off the concrete, though later in the year I'll get some eyes on the areas before the weather turns again. Brian
