Polycarbonate Vs double glazed Glass units..

Anyone have any advantages/disadvantages of 25mm polycarbonate Vs double glazed glass for a conservatory roof. All that i know is that polycarbonate is 200 times more impact resistant than glass. Any other benefits/drawbacks i should know about?

Secondly if using glass instead of polycarbonate, would the double glazed units slide in the same place as the polycarbonate rafters or would they have to have their own frame (like a window). Also does the glass come in the same size as poly eg 25mm, as i thought glass was a standard 24mm or 28mm

Thirdly are capping bars adjustable over rafters in order to use say

28mm glass units?

Any comments greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

1) Don't plan on sitting in the conservatory when it rains if you use polycarbonate, unless you plan to buy an ear defender. 2) Polycarbonate tends to discolour with time and to attract algae etc.
