UK food and drink Misc has a poster that wants to preserve eggs. Can you help?

I will be happy to transfer posts there.

Doesn't sound good... ISTR she 'resigned' (again!) from uk.d-i-y some weeks ago

But also on a bread recipes (or some such) newsgroup so maybe just for historical reasons (IIRC she at one time did have BC).

Post up this rather patronising link :-)

Crack 'em and freeze 'em. Separate first if you wish.

Seems eminenlty sensible.

Eggs, are IIRC sterile when laid but dry out by diffusion through the shell. So the suggestion you get if you do that google of rubbing fat (lard, butter etc) over the shell as a quick and dirty method of preserving eggs has much to be said for it.

Drat ! I thought she'd died.

My god she was an ignorant hypocritical old cow.

Please don't bring her back here.

The "advice" she gave was c*ck anyway, since she didn't even know which solution is used to preserve eggs, nor how to use it. I'd be happy to repeat the advice I gave last time but you can find the thread using Google groups, so repetition seems a bit pointless.

I know things can get "robust" in here but that's not called for!

We used to preserve up to a hundred each year, many years ago now, in a very large crock, using a solution of isinglass.
