F*ck me that's rough.
I've not met anyone who said it made things worse, just one person who said it made no difference and 4 who said it was well worth it

a generation ago I would be dead by now. Heart or cancer, whichever . Modern medicine keeps us alive well past our sell-by date and bits do start to go off....
Tricky for people with glaucoma who should avoid steroids.
Anyone with glaucoma secondary to pseudo-exfoliative syndrome* who also develops cataracts (inevitable), has a significant risk of ending up with worse eyesight than before the op.
This is because the underlying condition affects the production of lysyl oxidase-like 1 which in turn controls the formation of elastin and collagen which in turn are associated with the structures that hold the lens in place.
My Grandfather has his cataracts done in the mid 1970's (he died in
1976), and that was over 50 years ago. It's not a recent medical development, though the way it is done is probably a lot more advanced.
I got my licence renewal back in Feb, 3 months in advance, but I am on their medical list anyway. After renewing it online in Feb they then sent me another V1 medical form to fill in. I should have done that online too because my returned paper V1 disappeared down a rabbit hole in Swansea. I had to get the Glaucoma UK forum to chase it up for me.
I've heard that a form of cataract operation was performed 2000 years ago...
Is it not a new photo every 10 years?
You watched QI too?
You usually have to quote your passport number so they can use the photo from that. I assume you will have to provide one, paper or online [1], if you don't have a licence.
[1] Modern photo booths give out a reference that you can quote online.
That's not my source of knowledge.
I managed to do it online 3 or 4 times before, but this time it simply beat me. I would rather have done it online, because you get instant verification of delivery. Using the post, you just have to wait to see if you get a new licence eventually.
